Patar Beach boasts of its white sand and crystal clear water. Around 19 kilometers from the town proper, this famed local tourism come-on has captured the hearts of tourist both local and international. Rising at 351 feet above sea level atop Punta Piedra point which is a towering hill of solid rock in Brgy.Patar, the Cape Bolinao Lighthouse has a visibility of about 20 miles towards the Lighthouse in Poro Point. Constructed in 1905 by American, British and Filipino engineers. This majestic structure has a total of 134 steps out of its six platforms that has 20 rungs to include 14 other steps to the illumination room. This edifice was built to guide ships and boats plying Cape Bolinao in order to prevent sea disasters sending signals to vessels passing by the area. One can experience a breathtaking view of the sea upon reaching its summit.
Located in Brgy. Tara, Brgy. Samang Norte and Brgy.Tupa which is around 15.6 kilometers away from the proper, this tourism site has fast becoming popular among tourist who are in search for Nature adventures. Travelling along rough road condition is not at all impediment as the destination truly provides a wonderful experience to reckon with. The Series of falls have shallow water in the proximity but gets deeper as one progresses into the water. With a huge basin that span around 20 meters at its wildest, the falls has only line drop but the rock formations are almost similar.
The town is endowed with natural wonders as caves abound specifically in Patar area. These caves are underground swimming pools. With the stalactites and stalagmites adding grandeur to nature’s deepest wonders. Who else could resist to take a dip into its cool and clear waters.
Also known as punta piedra or point of the rocks, This is where you can see the natural and spectacular Rocks formed by the incessant lapping of tidal waves against the shore through the millenniums. It is located along Patar Road going to the famous Cape Bolinao Light House and Patar White Beach. It is also near to other Bolinao’s tourist spots like Enchanted Cave, Cindy’s Cave and Wonderful Cave.
This center is one the most favorite tourist spot as Best Learning and Discovery Area in the province wherein both local and foreign tourist can enhance learning and experience on Mangrove Propagations in the nursery, Mangrove Reforestation through Mangrove planting activities and appreciate the importance and value of Mangroves in the coastal communities. Moreover, within in the center, it showcases various aquaculture technology demonstration projects through culturing high value marine species that can be replicated by the fisher folks.
The Bolinao Marine Laboratory serves as the official marine station of the Marine Science Institute (MSI)- University of the Philippines. The town of Bolinao was aiming the first study sires of the UP-Marine Science Institute (MSI) in 1976. Its coral reefs formed part of nationwide assessment of the country’s coral reef status. Approximately 2.5 kilometers away from the town, the laboratory opens from 8am to 5pm every Mondays to Fridays. Visitors are required to pay a minimal entrance of P20. Interested groups are asked to schedule an advance booking.
It was established by UP Marine Science Institute and is home of the largest living bivalve mollusc or the giant clam (Tridacna gigas) capital of the country which is known to be one of the most endangered clam species. Weighing over 200 kilograms (440 lbs) and measures as much as 120 cm (47 in), the specie has an average life span in the wild of about century or over 100 years. Over the years, the municipality of Bolinao has developed Santiago Island (an island located off the northeast coast of the town) as Giant Clam Ocean Nursery and Marine Protected Areas (MPA’s). A sanctuary of the endangered species, Santiago Island is composed of six Barangays: Binabalians, Goyoden, Lucero, Pilar, Salud, Victory and Dewey.
The biggest salt making facility in the Philippines, pacific Farms Inc. is a 500 hectares salt farm that produces 30,000,000 to 40,000,000 Kilos of salt annually.
This is the main market in town. Here you can buy meat, fruit, seafood, vegetables, binungey (rice cake cooked in bamboo), Padas (fermented fish), dangit (dried fish), Tinapang galunggong, and anything else you need. And it is located near important establishments like the Municipal Hall, Town Plaza, Saint James the Geat Parish and many more.
